Workshops

A proactive approach for dancers to become mentally fit and emotionally strong

Terry Hyde MA MBACP, our CEO, will be presenting the interactive Mental Health Self-Care Workshops that have been created for performing arts students from the age of 13 through to professional performers. They are also suitable for those working with performers; coaches, teachers, physical therapists, dance science students and also the parents of students and can be presented in person or via video link.

The talks cover recognising mental health symptoms and how they relate to performers by looking at typical underlying factors and triggers.  Break-out groups allow attendees to explore subject such as their relationship with food, perfectionism, social media influences and body image to enable them to see if these issues are affecting them.

A discussion regarding the relationship between mental health and injuries is also included; this can help with both recovering from and avoiding future injuries.

Participants will be taught a variety of simple techniques to help them in all aspects of their performing life. Due to the subject matter, confidential one-to-one sessions after each workshop can be offered if required.

Workshops specifically dealing with performance, audition, and exam anxiety are also available, and other tailor-made workshops can be discussed with the school/company.

Workshops run for between one and a half to two hours, with an additional time for one-to-ones mentioned above, if required.
